Monday August 25 A perfect no wind warm day at Waterfront Park! noon til 6:30

Celebrate the last week of our summer season. Get on the water today at Waterfront Park Hood River. Left my phone in trailer last night so I am out of touch until I retrieve it at noon. If you need info – email me before 11 today or stop down and help set up at Noon Today!

Starting Tuesday Sept 2 I will be offering the club boards for sale to members. 2 have already been reserved or sold to members. Starting  Sept 15th boards will be offered to the public. Don’t worry, we will have enough boards for fall paddling through Oct 15th. After that all remaining boards go into storage and will be offered for sale again starting early April. Then new boards will be ordered for the 2015 Season for delivery by May 10 (in time to be prepared for the May 15th opening day. The summer has gone by so fast. But there is more to be done.

High on the list is the first member organizational meeting of the club (and picnic). It is time for the club to elect an official board of directors. I’d like to have a board of 5 or 7 members that would meet 4 times a year in  April, June, August, and November to elect officers, decide on policy and programming, (expansion to other areas or more sites, childrens programming, etc.) election of board officers President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. From the beginning I established this club and incorporated it as an Oregon not for profit corporation. But that is just the corporate “shell” it now it is time to build the building and take this club to the next level. I hope some of you share this vision, see the potential, and will share your skills and enthusiasm to help build a new model for the sport in this community and perhaps help other communities start affiliate chapters!

Please let me know if you are interested in participating on the board and / or are willing to serve as one of the club officers. I will repeat this post at least once a week for the next several weeks.

See you starting at Noon Today at Waterfront Park
